Growing up bilingual in Catalan and Spanish in multicultural Barcelona sparked my early fascination with language. I am a phonetician specializing in prosody—the variations of pitch, duration, and intensity that give language its melody, meaning, and emotional expression. My research explores how prosody shapes speech perception and the mental representation of words and sentences. I draw on a background in Hispanic linguistics, acoustics, laboratory phonology, and speech therapy to inform my experimental work.
